March 13, 2020  EAST CHINA CHARTER TOWNSHIP NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

East China Charter Township officials are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its implications for the public’s health.  Township officials are working in coordination with public health officials from St. Clair County, the State of Michigan, and Federal agencies for best practices for protection against potential exposure. Up to date information can be found on the St. Clair County Health Department Website:   https://www.stclaircounty.org/offices/health/ and the State of Michigan site: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus    

Additionally, please be aware of the following:

All residents are discouraged from conducting business within the Township Office that can otherwise be conducted via U.S. Mail, Drop Box or online at www.eastchinatownship.org.

When at all possible, transact business with the Township by paying bills online.

Utilize Drop Box for all township transactions which will be processed continually; cash may be placed in the drop box from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE CASH IN DROP BOX “AFTER HOURS”. 

Sandbags are currently not available for pick-up or purchase at this time. 

Meter changes or other work by Township Employees  involving entering private residences are/is temporarily suspended.

The sale of sand bags from Township Hall is temporarily suspended.

Recycling bins will not be available for residents to pick up inside Township Hall until further notice. If available, recycling bins are behind the building.

The  CASH sale of water from the Water Plant is temporarily suspended. A sign will be posted at the water access site indicating this. Water Plant Staff will make determinations about how to accommodate servicing customers who present cash, but no cash will be taken at the Water Plant until further notice.

Building Department inspections are temporarily suspended.

Use of the Township Hall for non-Township groups / business is temporarily suspended.



KAYAK & CANOE LAUNCH ON BELLE RIVER ROAD
ThIS .45 acre park provides barrier free parking for access to the Belle river throughout the year.   A portable kayak and canoe launch has been installed and it will be removed during the winter months.
